Recurring non-transaction question emails

Automatically remind your clients to answer open questions in the Client Portal using recurring email notifications.

You can enable email reminders for recurring non-transaction questions in Keeper. These reminders ensure your clients never miss a request by sending a daily batched email listing all unanswered recurring non-transaction questions marked.

🔧 Enable on Individual Questions

When creating a Recurring Non-Transaction Question, you'll now see a “Notify client” checkbox at the bottom of the modal. Check this to activate recurring email reminders for that specific question.

Once enabled:

  • The client will receive an email reminder at 8:00 AM EST on the scheduled day when the question is added to the Client Portal.

  • The email includes a link to the Client Portal and showcases all relevant open questions from that day.

  • Each question appears as a separate section in the email.

Note: If a question is scheduled for today but created after the 8:00 AM batch, the email will not be sent until the next scheduled period.


Turn Notifications ON or OFF for all questions across all clients

From Settings > Client Portal, under the newly renamed section “Non-transaction Questions”, you can:

  • Click “Turn on notifications for all recurring non-transaction questions” to enable reminders for every current question across all clients.

  • Click “Turn off notifications…” to disable them for every current question across all clients.

Warning: This will apply to ALL existing recurring non-transaction tables across ALL clients. Once applied, it is not reversible.

Both actions are logged in the Activity Log.


🔍 View Reminder Status at a Glance

The Recurring Questions table shows which questions have “Notify client” enabled:

  • ✅ Checked = Reminder active

  • ❌ Unchecked = Reminder inactive

You can also preview the email that will be sent by clicking the Preview button (only available if "Notify client" is enabled). This preview is not editable, but will show you what the contact will receive.


📬 What the Client Sees

Clients receive a batched email once per day if they have more than one question with reminders enabled. If only one question is added with reminders enabled then the email will be sent with one question only.

  • Each question appears as a separate section.

  • The email includes a link to the Client Portal to respond.

Note: If the same contact appears across multiple clients with open questions, they will receive multiple emails, one per client.


🛠 Other Updates

  • If there are no contacts associated with a client, the Notify client checkbox is disabled.

  • These reminders are not tied to the existing “Emails Reminder Enabled?” setting.


💬 FAQs

Q: Who receives the email if a question is assignable?
A: The person it's assigned to. If unassigned, all contacts in the portal will receive it.

Q: What’s the default setting for existing recurring questions?
A: Notify client is disabled by default and must be enabled manually or via the global setting.
